“REAL” ISN’T NECESSARILY TRUE

“You’re so ugly!
It’s all your fault,”
Your abuser says to you;
You feel broken,
Life seems hopeless;
You don’t know what to do.
It never ends;
It seems so real…
But it isn’t true.

“You are nothing;
Inferior,”
Prejudice declares to you.
“Equality
Might be in reach,
Depending on how you do.”
It never ends;
It seems so real…
But it isn’t true.

Experience
And messages
Can disguise themselves as true;
So tangible,
Immediate;
They work to convince you;
But they’re lying;
They are not real;
Hear Truth call to you.

“You’re beautiful;
I set you free
To be the authentic ‘you.'”
To live and grow,
A powerful one
Who chooses what you’ll do.
I’ll walk with you;
I’m very real;
And yes, I am true!
